Benchen Monastery, August 31, 2026
On August 26, 2026, severe flooding unexpectedly swept through the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa District, causing tragic losses and impacting communities across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi. As the Government of Nepal works tirelessly on search, rescue, and recovery operations, our hearts go out to everyone who has been displaced, injured, or left searching for missing loved ones.
In a spirit of shared responsibility and compassion during this painful period, Benchen Phuntsok Dhargyeling Monastery has contributed NPR 2,000,000 (Twenty Lakh) to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for emergency response and rehabilitation.
To ensure direct help reaches families in Rasuwa District, the Monastery has also allocated NPR 1,500,000 (Fifteen Lakh) in cash assistance to be distributed through trusted local social organizations.

On August 31, 2026, the Lamas of Benchen Monastery offered 12,000 butter lamps and dedicated special prayers at Swayambhunath Stupa and at the Monastery, sending merit and strength to all affected communities. These contributions fulfill the compassionate vision and guidance of our principal gurus, His Eminence Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche and His Eminence Tenga Rinpoche.

Our gurus, monastics, sangha, and supporters are preparing further relief materials for families in hard-to-reach, remote mountain areas. We remain committed to working alongside local leaders and authorities to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
