Just in time for the four-month Rinchen Terdzo initiation, the Traditional Tibetan Medicine center, run by Yonten Wangpo, is opening its doors at the Free Clinic of Benchen Monastery in Kathmandu. All participants can now receive treatment there free of charge.

Yonten Wangpo comes from the remote Tsum Valley in the Himalayas and joined Benchen Monastery in 2003 at the age of nine. After completing his education at Benchen School and the monastery, he decided to study Traditional Tibetan Medicine (TTM) at Palpung Sherapling Monastery in Himachal Pradesh, India.

Last year, the now 31-year-old Benchen School alumnus returned to Nepal to receive an oral Kangyur transmission at Benchen Monastery. Back then, Yonten was already treating many people in his private room with ancient Tibetan salt treatments, soothing acupressure massages, and Tibetan medicine. Shortly thereafter, he was introduced to a renowned Tibetan physician with decades of experience, with whom he was then able to complete a six-month internship. Yonten is overjoyed and feels blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from the old master, and he is committed to continue doing his best to deepen his education and support Benchen Monastery through his medical practice.

The medical center relies on additional donations, especially when purchasing expensive Tibetan medicines, particularly during the current four-month Rinchen Terdzo empowerment.
