H.H. the 17th Karmapa had asked Tenga Rinpoche to go to Rumtek Monastery to give instructions on one of the Anutara Yoga Tantras, the known as Chakdor Tumpo, which had never been performed there. On the way to Rumtek, Rinpoche stopped in Merik since he was requested by Bokar Rinpoche’s monastery to give some empowerments in the

monastery as well as in the retreat center there. Rinpoche was very happy to arrive in Merik, and over the next two days he gave a special White Tara empowerment, after which the monastery performed the one-week White Tara drupchen. Meanwhile, Rinpoche was invited to the retreat center, where His Eminence Kalu Rinpoche was doing a 3year retreat. Tenga Rinpoche was requested to give one of the intensive empowerments of the 6-armed Mahakala. It was wonderful to meet Kalu Rinpoche.

After completion of his program in Merik, Rinpoche and his entourage drove straight to Rumtek Monastery. It was a great joy for Rinpoche to step foot inside the courtyard because he had so many great memories of being in the presence of H.H. the 16th Karmapa. He looked around and saw that there had been many changes in terms of the monks’ quarters, but the blessing of being there was the same

as forever. He gave the Chakdr or Tumpchen empowerment to all the monks, and then he gave the instructions on how to proceed with the practice and performance of the puja itself. Rinpoche felt a great relief that he was able to fulfil the wish of H.H. Karmapa. Rinpoche really enjoyed his stay in Rumtek and thanked the community for their assistance during his visit.

Rinpoche then went to H.E. Gyaltshab Rinpoche’s monastery, Palchen Ling, in Ralang, Sikkim, where he spent two nights. Even though H.E. Gyaltshab was not present as he was in Dharamsala with H.H. Karmapa receiving the Rinchen Terdzod from H.E. Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche, Rinpoche really enjoyed the hospitality of the monks at Palchen Ling before his safe return to Kathmandu.
